History

The first European explorer to sight New Zealand was Abel Janszoon Tasman on 13 December 1642.
Captain James Cook reached New Zealand in October 1769 on the first of his three voyages
England then proceeded to colonise New Zealand in 9 November 1850 by sending 4 ships
These ships are known as "The first four ships" and took 3 months to sail to New Zealand
Over 200 people died on the journey due to conditions such as;
